A Look at James Akenhead, One of the World Series of Poker’s November Nine

Poker players have so much to look forward to in November as the WSOP series nears its completion. The Main Event of WSOP is also going to be a big event as it brings together nine of the top poker players in the world.
Here is a look at James Akenhead, one of the fortunate players who got into this major poker tournament.
One of the UK's Best Poker Players
Although still a relatively unknown name in American households, James Akenhead has already made a big name for himself in the United Kingdom. In fact, when he got into the November Nine, his fans from his homeland shared in his success.
Being a member of The HitSquad, a UK poker outfit composed of young professional poker players, Akenhead is active in the poker circuit, especially in the Grosvenor tour, which is considered as the United Kingdom's flagship poker tour. Included in this poker outfit are Praz Bansi who already has a WSOP bracelet under his belt and Sunny Chattha as well as Karl Mahrenholz, both of which has won the Grosvenour UK Poker Tour championships.
From low-stakes to high-stakes poker, each of them has created a reputable image in the poker world, and now, one of them has been included in the 2009 WSOP's November Nine.
It is being said that Akenhead, considered as the group's most skilled and most aggressive player, has already earned a hefty $2.2 million in poker winnings and earnings.
Pathway to November Nine
Akenhead started out his Day 1c on the wrong foot where he bluffed and lost big time and ended up with only about 4,000 chips. This did not stop him though as, at the end of the day, he regained control of the table and ended the day with 70,000 chips. His winning streak continued, and when Day 2b ended, his chip stack has risen to 278,000. Day 5 brought him closer to his goal as he got into the top ten overall chip leaders.
On the final day though of the WSOP Main Event, he was crippled by an Ace-King versus a Pocket Eights coin flip, but he soon get back into the game and into the November Nine. He might not have the chip stack that he wants to go into the WSOP Main Event on November 2009, but with his skill and aggressiveness, his fans are sure to see more of his gameplay.
