A Look at WSOP’s November Nine Phil Ivey

A living legend — that is what the world is calling , and it is without a doubt that he is, indeed, a living legend.

Next month, Ivey is going back to the felt table and battle it out with some of the best players in the world as he plays at the final table of the 2009 World Series of Main Event.

Career

Ivey won his first bracelet at a $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha when he was only 23 years old, and ever since then, he set a standard that was too high that only a few could ever match.  In 2002, he earned three bracelets.  He received another one in 2005 and two more in 2009.

Not only is he good in online games, but he is also a formidable player at live tournaments.  It is being said that he had accumulated more than twelve million dollars in winnings in his career.  Aside from this, some say that he has also earned more from side bets made on his play.

His Way to the

Day 1c saw at the top of his game as he started winning pots after pots, closing the day with a hefty 84,000 chips.  Day 3 was the same as he continued to build his chip castle, with 350,000 chips at the end of the day.  Day 4 was also good for him as he effortlessly landed a spot among the chip leaders.  Ivey might have had some hits on Day 5, but he quickly got back into the game.

Day 8 seemed to be the hardest for him as he lost one third of his chip stack, leaving fans and other players wondering if this is his last day on the tournament.  Fortunately, he took control of the situation and managed to get back into the game and into the final nine players.

might have one of the smallest chip stacks at the 2009 final table, but with the experience and skill that he has under his belt, it will not be surprising if he pulls ahead of the competition and win the title.  The only thing that will stop him from winning the title is if he does not get the right cards.  But if he does, then there will be no stopping him.
