Daniel Negreanu will again be one of the players seen on High Stakes Poker along with some other players who are all ways willing to be in the mix for high stakes. Doyle Brunson will be there as well as Sam Farha during this season of play. This is the fifth season of the popular TV show and the word is that the stakes will be even higher this year. The season will have much bigger pots and there will be some new young players on the show from the Internet and trying to be aggressive against a pro like Doyle Brunson in a game that he plays as well as any of the players.
There have been memorable hands in other seasons like the Hand between Farha and Greenstein when Sammy called an $180,000 raise with a pair of Kings knowing that Barry probably had Aces. OF course he catches a third king on the flop. The toper hand was between Gus Hansen and Daniel when Gus made four of a kind to Daniels full house.
Of course if you watch TV Poker tournaments much, then you know that Negreanu is usually the one putting the hurt on another player. The other fun thing last season was to see Jamie Gold try to talk his way in a hand against the legendary Brunson. He seemed unaware that Doyle would play or not play depending on his read and it did not matter what he said. The buy-ins are supposedly going to be higher this year, so the players will be gambling with higher stakes on more hands.
The commentary will be as sarcastic as usual and there will be no change this season. Kaplan who really does know the game will still be supplying the skinny on the hands and his sidekick will still be asking questions. Of course when Phil Hellmuth shows up there will be more conversation, as he seems to generate comments from all involved. Eli Elezra will always put chips in the pot, as he seems to have no fear when he thinks his hand is good. His talkative play also makes for some fun playing when he has the right group at the table.
It is with some anticipation that many poker players who watch this show are waiting the beginning of the season this Sunday night. Let's shuffle up and deal.
