Patrik Antonius is in big trouble due to an overly eager fan of his posing as him on Twitter. The poser has been posting false remarks about other players Patrik has played with. Doyle Brunson, a fellow poker player has been offended by these tweets the fake Patrik has been posting on twitter. Of course, Patrik then turned to coinflip.com to clear his name.
The Good and the Bad Side of Fans
Fans, of course, are great. They can give you tremendous amounts of support on what you do. But at some cases, fans aren't exactly very helpful. Enthusiastic fans of famous people don't always equal to a good publicity. Sometimes these zealous fans even pretend to be the persons they admire online and post updates that don't have to be true over the internet.
The Fake Patrik Antonius
Although there are a handful of Patric Antonius accounts over at FaceBook, none of them has exactly caught the attention of poker players as compared to the fake Twitter account. The fake Patrik Antonius on Twitter has been posting updates without permission that other players Patrik has played with would find offensive. The updates caught the eye of Doyle Brunson. The fake Patrik on Twitter posts that Doyle wasn't much of a challenge for Patrik during their last game. Doyle then angrily demanded an explanation from Patrik when the two met at Las Vegas. Patrik then turned to coinflip.com to let the poker community know of this fraud over Twitter. «I don't have a Twitter account and I have never posted a single word there» says Patrik Antonius explaining that he is not exactly the type to blurt out all the happenings within his life to the rest of the world. What Patrik would like to tell the poker world is that he doesn't have anything to do with the Twitter account posts. Patrik admits that he manages his facebook account every now and then, but explains that he only keeps it activated to maintain contact with a few people he knows in real life.
What's really interesting about the fake Twitter account is that the poster knows the happenings in Patrik's daily life. In short, the imposter has been following Patrik very closely. The said imposter even knows the games, rooms and opponents Patrik has played over the course of this summer. Talk about a scary case of stalking. Whoever this fake Patrik Antonius over the internet is, he surely isn't making things easy for the real Patrik.
