If there is a Hall of Fame, then there surely is a Hall of Shame, and poker, being a very popular game, has its own number of players that got into the Hall of Shame. Not only have they given poker a bad name, but they have also disgraced themselves in the eyes of their families and the public as well. So, who are these sorry poker players who got into the Poker Hall of Shame?
Mike «The Mouth» Matusow
A portly professional poker player from the United States, Mike Matusow has three WSOP bracelets under his belt and has over $5 million poker winnings ever since he started playing pro, but whatever reputation he has built in the poker world was shot to hell when he was arrested for drug trafficking. He was caught selling illegal substances like cocaine to an undercover law enforcement agent. Aside from cocaine, he also sold the agent Percocet and Ecstasy pills. He would have gotten 10 years in jail, but he pleaded guilty and was only incarcerated for six months.
Shahram «Poker Pervert» Sheikhan
Shahram Sheikhan originally came from Iran but migrated to the United States. Sheikhan has about $1.5 millions in poker winnings and has finished runner-up in the World Series of Poker for two times. Aside from these though, he also bagged the title pervert and child molester when he was found guilty of having committed sex crimes against minors, and this earned him time in prison. He earned more additional years in prison when he was also found guilty of having committed sexual battery to another minor. In 1999, he finally killed a person in a vehicular accident wherein he was speeding. He would have been deported back to Iran, especially since his crimes were mostly targeted at minors, but was permitted to stay in the country due to technicality reasons.
Dave «Devilfish» Ulliot
This poker player who belongs to the Hall of Shame hails from the UK. He has a WSOP bracelet to his name, and like Sheikhan, he also landed the runner-up place on the WSOP for four times. All in all, he has, more or less, $6 millions in poker winnings. The crimes that earned him a place in the Poker Hall of Shame and put him behind prison bars include safe-cracking, bank robbery, and nightclub brawl.
There are just some of the poker players who earned a spot on the Poker Hall of Shame.
