It seems like there are a lot of poker tournaments going on right now, and PokerStars appears to be leading the pack, what with its very busy poker week. But not to be outdone though, Full Tilt has a few surprises up its sleeves for its players and those who are seeking the thrill and excitement that tournaments offer.
PokerStars Noteworthy Tournaments
PokerStars' European Poker Tour Barcelona has just finished, and Carter Phillips took home the prize of more than $1.2M. On the other hand, the World Championship of Online Poker, also from PokerStars, is still continuing to receive buy-in fees from online poker players from all over the world.
On another PokerStars news, World Poker Tour has just recently wrapped up its first-time visit to Cyprus wherein Thomas Bichon, a French poker pro, bagged the first place title and won himself a hefty sum of $579,165 as prize money. The said event attracted more than 181 players who competed at the $10,300 tournament, which took place at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino in Cyprus. Not surprisingly, its final ten players consisted of some of the big names in the poker world.
Not to be beaten by the popularity of PokerStars WCOOP, Full Tilt offers its own online poker series, the FTOPS or the Full Tilt Online Poker Series. But this time, they offer it in an entirely different scheme.
Instead of giving the players the complete FTOPS that they are used to, Full Tilt is going to hold MiniFTOPS. This online poker series offered by Full Tilt started last September 9, 2009 and is going to end on the 20th of September 2009.
The format of the MiniFTOPS is basically similar to that of the full FTOPS, but they differ in the buy-in fee. The MiniFTOPS only asks for 1/10 of the buy-in fee that the regular FTOPS asks for, so it can easily be afforded by poker players. In fact, the buy-in fee can range anywhere from $11 to $250. Although a relatively cheaper buy-in fee, you can still expect huge guaranteed prize pools, with its main event having a guaranteed $500,000 prize pool.
If you are interested in getting into these major poker series, then you should check out their websites now for their complete schedule regarding the variety of poker tournaments where you can also choose the event that you want to join based on your skills and budget.
