For an avid poker player, sit and go tournaments are very important since this is a great way to build your bankroll and earn some extra cash.  Aside from this, sit and go tournaments are also the best way to get a seat into one of the major poker tournaments, especially if you are strapped for cash and cannot afford to pay for the huge buy-in fees.  Although playing your best at sit and go tournaments is a must, it cannot be denied that you will need some simple strategies to stay in the game and ultimately achieve what you are aiming for.

Play Premium Hands

Once you have a good hand, you should never let it go because it could spell success or disaster for you during the sit and go tournament.  Just in case you do have a strong hand but not enough to win the round, you should know that you need not wait long enough to wait for better cards to come because sit and go tournaments can be quite quick.

Use Your Stack

It is a fact that players with a small stack of chips get pushed around more by those who have average stacks of chips.  This is because they need to eliminate players quickly and because players with average stack of chips need to stay in the game longer to qualify at the final table and get into the money paying position.  So if you find yourself having a good stack, know how to use it against your opponents, and if you have a short stack, learn how to defend it.

Be Aggressive

Aggressiveness can award you the prize when you play at sit and go tournaments.  For this reason, you should always be aggressive, especially if you have a good hand.  This way, your aggressiveness may push your opponent into making a dumb decision, giving you the win.  You will also find it more beneficial if you become more aggressive towards the end of the game.

Keep Them Guessing

In conjunction with being aggressive, you should also keep your opponents guessing.  You should never, never stick with one type of playing, lest your opponents become aware of it and use your weakness to their advantage.

Sit and go tournaments ask for a low buy-in fee with a low limit, but the rewards can be great if you employ the proper strategies.  Plus, sit and go tournaments can help you prepare for the big ones.
