Strategize and Learn How to Adapt to the Different Poker Games

In these hard times, you need to learn how to adapt and formulate strategies in order to recoup some of your losses.  The same can be true in your poker game.  Nowadays, you no longer need to depend on what you know and what works for you, but you have to really get in there and learn more strategies.

Understand the Flops

While it will do your online poker game good if you habitually build big pots when you play against multiple players, this is actually a big mistake if you play in live poker.  By this strategy, you allow yourself to miss the flop and open the game for other players to hit.  What you should do then in live poker is to increase your raise, especially if you have a good hand, and increase your calls if you have a tentative hand.  This way, you get to take advantage of the habitual callers.  Habitual callers usually call during the pre flop, so this is a good time to raise when you have an excellent hand.  Not only do you get to protect your hand, but you also get to drive other players out that would otherwise have made a better hand.  Then again, if you have a tentative hand, you could raise your calls to see more cards to give you a better hand.

Focus on Your Table

Another big mistake that online players make when they play live poker is that they are used to playing at multiple tables, which distracts them somewhat from focusing entirely on his opponents at his table.  So when you play at a live poker, you have to brush up on your knowledge about tells, and tells are the visible changes on the other poker players' behaviour and attitude.  You will really need to concentrate on these changes so as to get an inkling of the hands they hold, but you have to be wary, too, of the way they bluff, so you have to learn how to observe the game patterns of your opponents as well as know their tendencies.

In the same manner, you also have to develop your table image.  You do not want to be too readable and make yourself open for other players to manipulate, and you also must not stick to only one style of playing (tight passive, tight aggressive, loose passive, and loose aggressive), lest you become too predictable.
