Barry Shulman, CEO of CardPlayer, won the 2009 WSOPE Championship after a heads-up play with Daniel Negreanu.
These two big names in the poker world each took their turn getting rid of one opponent after another until they were left as the last two players competing for the major prize. The game lasted about five hours, with Negreanu having a 2:1 chip lead against Shulman, but in the end, Shulman pulled ahead of Negreanu in what can be called as a very dramatic final two hands.

The WSOPE began last September 18 at the Empire Casino, London and, in fact, saw its biggest number of participants in its three-year history, having had 608 entrants. The Main Event, which was to be a £1,000 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'Em, started last Monday, September 21, for a two-day event.
Aside from seeing the biggest number of participants, this year also marks the first year that a Brit won a World Series of Poker Europe title championship, and he is JP Kelly. [Read][more...]

This year seems like a pretty busy year for PokerStars' Peter Eastgate. He has been seen in many live poker tournaments and, in fact, has done quite a bit of traveling to play poker at these major poker tournaments. He even went to play at the EPT Barcelona that has just recently finished where, sadly, he did not do as well as he and his fans had hoped.
