Weeks to Go before the World Series of Poker Main Event

A few more weeks to go and it is the start of the World Series of Poker Main Event. This is the highlight of this major poker tournament, and many poker players and fans of the game are getting excited as November fast approaches. The November Nine are going to take their seats and battle it out on the felt table, and this will surely be a sight to see as the world's top poker players are going to compete for the title of champion and all that it entails, including one of the biggest prizes in the poker world, the most coveted WSOP bracelet, and fame, of course.
What the Year 2009 Saw
It was, indeed, a very exciting year for the World Series of Poker as it saw a huge number of participants and attracted some of the world's top poker players. In fact, it can be said that this year was far more exciting than last year's, and it cannot be denied, too, that there were a lot of newbies to the WSOP who have shown tremendous poker skills, making waves in the poker world and creating names for themselves in the process. But, of course, the players who grabbed the attention of many were still the poker pros, especially those that have gotten into the November Nine.
A Look at Phil Ivey of the WSOP November Nine
One of the lucky November Nines is Phil Ivey. He is considered as one of the greatest poker players the poker world has ever known. In fact, this 2009 WSOP alone, he has once again shown how fearsome and formidable he could be as an opponent on the poker table by not only making his presence known but also by adding two more WSOP bracelets under his belt. Truth be told, Ivey has managed to break a number of world records all throughout his poker career.
This poker player surely is somebody to watch out for during the Main Event, and his fans are sure to expect something exciting from the best all-around poker player.
The WSOP tournaments have brought out the best skills in some average players, pushing them into the limelight. This is perhaps just one of the many reasons why many poker players are participating in this world-famous poker series, and this is also why the WSOP is going to be here for many more years to come.
Professional Poker Players Still Seeking the WSOP Bracelet

While there are plenty of professional poker players that have won at least one World Series of Poker Bracelet, there are just as many that have not. Winners of the WSOP bracelet include pros like Doyle Brunson, Bobby Baldwin, Hal Fowler, Stu Ungar, Jack Straus, Tom McEvoy, Jack Keller, Bill Smith, Berry Johnston, Johnny Chan, Phil Hellmuth Jr, Mansour Matloubi, Brad Daugherty, and Jim Bechtel. Additional winners include Russ Hamilton, Dan Harrigan, Huck Seed, Scotty Nguyen, Noel Furlong, Chris Ferguson, Juan Carlos Mortensen, Robert Varkonyi, Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, Jamie Gold, Jerry Yang, and Peter Eastgate.
Winners have been receiving a bracelet along with monetary winnings from the WSOP tournament since 1976 when Doyle Brunson won the tournament; a winner who has earned himself as many as ten of the coveted WSOP bracelets. The only other person that has won more bracelets than Brunson is Phil Hellmuth who has taken home eleven of the WSOP bracelets. Johnny Chan has also won ten WSOP bracelets, Johnny Moss has won nine, and Erik Seidel has won eight thus far. Yet, what of the players that have won huge amounts of cash but have not brought home a WSOP bracelet? What pros still have yet to get their hands on the coveted WSOP bracelet? [Read][more...]

Allen Carter, otherwise referred to as AawwNutz, has been officially signed by none other than Ultimate Bet. This move came shortly after Carter's one million dollar win at the WPT Southern Poker Championship hosted at Biloxi's Beau Rivage Resort/Casino in Mississippi. Of course, this latest win for Carter certainly was not his first; this super poker player won some 45 thousand from Ultimate Bet back in June 2008 after entering their tournament offering. Also winning big at Full Tilt Poker, Carter took home 15,000 from his entry in the $50,000.00 Guaranteed Full Tilt Poker game after winning third place.
The position that Allen Carter will officially have at Ultimate Bet has not been revealed at this present time. Allen Carter will be joining ranks with some of the top pro card players in the business today including folks like Dave Stann, Tiffany Michelle, and Tracy Scala, James Campbell, as well as Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke. Phil Hellmouth has won the World Series of Poker Tournament a total of eleven times since 1989, and Annie Duke has made a name for herself having managed to rake in over three million in tournament play winnings, as well as winning a WSOP bracelet.
